Reading Notes: Week 9 Mahabharata-A

Right off the bat, I like "The Princes of Elephant City" because explains who is who in simple, readable terms. I dont want to retell this, but it is nice to have it laid out.

The Winning of Draupadi:
This might be fun to retell! I already retold the story of suitors trying to win a bride's fathers blessing. But this story has a very different turn...she marries them all! So it might be fun to see how creative I can get.
Yudhishthira's Gambling:
I would totally like to retell this!! I would set it in the 1920's and make it in a sort of underground casino. Pinstriped suits and feathers and speakeasys! Instead of this strange fight that takes place, it will be the good-oldfashioned bar brawl. There is also a lot of imagery in this story and I would like to take what they've written and create a parallel to the setting I have in mind. I'm also seeing Guy's and Doll's "Luck Be a Lady" kind of a scene happening. I'll have to look up more about the particulars of gambling to make it more realistic!
